Welcome to St. Luke’s Child Development Center
St. Luke’s Child Development Center is located in West Nashville, serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. We welcome families across Davidson County to apply to our diverse, multicultural Child Development Center. We provide a safe and healthy learning environment for the children we serve, and we strongly believe in partnering with both parents and community organizations to ensure that the best services are being provided to empower and support our families.
Our History
St. Luke’s Community House was founded in 1913, and in our 100+ years of service, we have always prioritized the care of children, starting with our well-baby clinic which operated throughout the 1920s. In the 1960s, we continued to operate the clinic, and added a Kindergarten program, summer camps, Boy Scout troops, and teen groups.
By the 1970s, we recognized that our community needed childcare, so we began fundraising for the construction of our Child Development Center wing. In 1973, we hosted an open house for the wing, and shortly after, childcare was established as our organization’s first priority of services.
Since that time, our childcare program has continued to grow, and we ultimately transitioned the name of the program to St. Luke’s Child Development Center in the early 2000s. Today, our Child Development Center serves over 100 children with a literacy-rich education every year! We are proud to prioritize the needs of low-income families who often struggle to afford the rising costs of childcare. We accept childcare certificates and sliding scale tuition is offered.
